I’ve always loved perfume, but I only became a serious perfume collector a few years ago. I’ve sampled 100s of fragrances from designer to niche to independent and still found holes where I wanted something different.

A lot of the fragrances I smelled had a synthetic plastic quality- when the marketing copy read “floral citrus musk” I smelled a chemical fire under top notes of bergamot. Diptyque and a few independent perfumers were the closest I could get to the actual green earthy scents I wanted. Upon joining the online fragrance community I found resources to teach myself perfumery and slowly broke down this mental barrier I had where I thought there was no way to do this post grad.

I had been searching for my ideal artistic medium for years. I dabbled in fiber arts and painting, but there’s something I love about the methodical experimentation, creating a formula (more like a spell) something where creativity can be shared with many vs 1 original piece. And I love all parts of this art form, the vessel design, formulation, world creation. Heck I’ve been wood carving for some caps for a scent I’m working on. I probably will use my felting skills as well for vessel adornment. This is just a joyful creative expression for me and hopefully I can share with more people soon.

PS - not all the fragrances I’m working on are going to be nature inspired, there are definitely some chemical bombs in the mix but I will label them as so, don’t worry.
